Surah Name: Ash-Shu'ara Meaning: The Poets
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ Qala lilmalai hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleem(un) The Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him: verily he-AS is a magician knowing. (26:34) |
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroon(a) He-AS would drive you out of your land through his-AS magic, what is it then that you command? (26:35) |
قَالُوا أَرْجِهِ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ Qaloo arjih waakhahu wa(i)bAAath fee almadaini hashireen(a) They said: Put him-AS off and his-AS brother-AS, and send callers to the cities. (26:36) |
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ Yatooka bikulli sahharin AAaleem(in) That they may bring to you every magician knowing (26:37) |
فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ FajumiAAa a(l)ssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maAAloom(in) So the magicians were assembled at a set time on a day made known. (26:38) |
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ Waqeela li(l)nnasi hal antum mujtamiAAoon(a) And it was said to the people: Are you gathering? (26:39) |
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ LaAAallana nattabiAAu a(l)ssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeen(a) Likely we are to follow the wizards if they are the winners. (26:40) |
Falamma jaa a(l)ssaharatu qaloo lifirAAawna ainna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeen(a) Then when the magicians came they said to the Pharaoh: Will there be a big reward for us if we are the winners? (26:41) |
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ Qala naAAam wainnakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeen(a) He said: Yea; and you shall be of those brought nigh. (26:42) |
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَى أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoon(a) Musa-AS said to them: Cast down what you have to cast. (26:43) |
فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahum waqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnu alghaliboon(a) Then they cast their ropes and their staves, and said: By the might of the Pharaoh we shall be the victors. (26:44) |
فَأَلْقَى مُوسَى عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ Faalqa moosa AAasahu faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoon(a) Then Musa-AS cast his-AS rod, and lo! It swallowed up what they had invented (26:45) |
فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ Faolqiya a(l)ssaharatu sajideen(a) Then the magicians flung themselves prostrate (26:46) |
قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameen(a) They said: We now believe in the Rabb-SWT of the worlds. (26:47) |
Rabbi moosa waharoon(a) The Rabb-SWT of Musa-AS and Harun-AS. (26:48) |
Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu a(l)ssihra falasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeen(a) The Pharaoh said: You believed before I gave you leave. Surely he-AS is your chief who taught you magic; so you shall surely come to know I shall certainly cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and certainly I shall crucify you all. (26:49) |
قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboon(a) They said: No harm! Verily to our Rabb-SWT we are to return. (26:50) |
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineen(a) We long that our Rabb-SWT shall forgive us our faults as we have been the first of believers. (26:51) |
